As a frontline 24hr Officer, his blog is the one that tells it how it is. It's very depressing stuff (and it isn't getting any better)

Interesting new post from his blog.

« Five Million Cats Can’t Be Wrong...Was Alfie Meadows Injured By Protestors?
January 7, 2011 by inspectorgadget

The silence from the Alfie Meadows camp is deafening.

I said on 14th December that rumours were starting to emerge in the student halls that it was a friendly fire incident, and that the student leaders knew it and were trying to work out a ‘Plan B’ about where to go with the story.

After all, the idea of a poor, innocent and hideously injured student bravely undergoing hours of brain surgery after police beat him with a baton and then tried to ‘turn him away’ from a hospital was too good to be true.

The story about Meadows being turned away from hospital fell apart under the most basic scrutiny. I had expected the ‘baton strike’ bit to be debunked too. But….. nothing.

Not even a ‘preliminary result of the inquiry’ from the IPCC. Not a leak anywhere, not even any further triumphalist martyrdom from the camp itself.

We know that students are saying that Alfie may have been hit by a piece of concrete thrown from behind him as he went towards the police lines. So why has this escaped mainstream media coverage?

Did Alfie Meadows himself ever actually say he was hit by a police baton? His mother says he said something along those lines, but then she also delivered ‘hospital’ part of the story. Now that Alfie is recovered, what has he had to say since the incident? Do you think they wouldn’t have used him if they could?

All is not what it seems with this story. The Left must be nervous. It must be hard to accuse the police of mass violence and brutality when your one flagship casualty turns out to be the victim of your own side. The question is, if we finally get the true story, will the Left be as quick to condemn those who threw the concrete?

There was a lot of talk after Tomlinson about police misinformation in the immediate aftermath of that tragedy. About how it was a deliberate attempt at cover-up. Now, with the Lefts version of Meadows falling apart before their eyes (even if only in hushed tones in student union bars so far) perhaps we will see some restraint before the next rush to judgement.

On the other hand, he may have been hit by a police baton, and they might have just decided to forget about it.
