2011: A New Year's Message
Out with the old - let's make some room for more of the same...
Another year has passed us by, and what a year it has been for PH and PHers. And now that this morning's hangover has eased a little, we'd like to share a few memories with you.
It's been a good year for PH racing, not only did we see the original PH fast man RacingPete storm ahead of the pack in a 370Z racer (before being punted off the track by a disgruntled rival), we also saw up-and-coming fast man Riggers take overall 3rd place in the PistonHeads supported 2010 Caterham Academy series, well done to both of them. The rest of the PH team watched some racing at this year's Le Mans 24 and Le Mans Classic, along with many of you who were kind enough to camp with us, or sport PH T shirts and stickers.
Speaking of Le Mans, our very own PH Smiley hitched a ride with none other than Nigel Mansell, and even though his ride was short-lived we were immensely proud to see the PH logo attain such heady heights.Sundays were taken to a whole new level in 2010 too, with the rise of the Sunday Service showing no sign of slowing down. It's hard to think that these meets started with just a few like-minded fellows in a car park, as we now welcome 700 cars at some events. Thanks to all of you who visited a Sunday meet last year, and thanks to the manufacturers who allowed us to use their tarmac - let's see what we can do to make the meets bigger and better in 2011.
Competitions were well received in 2010 with thousands of entries coming in for the various comps we ran throughout the year. We gave away race tickets, remote control cars, hot laps in racing cars, the chance to meet the Mansells, a week in our 370Z a brand-new Subaru STi and a behind-the-scenes tour at McLaren. Thanks for all of your support, it was fantastic to see so many of you entering and even better to contact so many of you to tell you that you had won. Let's hope we can give away just as much this year.
Over on the forums we thank our mods for keeping a close eye on the place, and everyone else for keeping them on their toes! We've seen some great threads over the year and despite being over a year old it's always a pleasure to see 'Ambiwlans' amongst the first few pages of The Lounge. We've had celebrities popping by, we've had custard, we've had disputes, and we've had more 'what car should I buy' threads than ever, but once again we must thank you guys for keeping the forums so active and for making them fun too.
PH Editor Chris-R has been delivering a steady stream of great content on the home page, and has been gallivanting around the globe driving some of the finest cars we've ever seen. Who can forget when he went to drive the Rolls-Royce Ghost in a shirt most would do the decorating in? The day he 'borrowed' Riggers Land Rover and got it stuck in a ditch, or the time he blagged himself a V10 M6?
To think that he gets paid to do this is too much to bear, but as he let me drive my dream 911 and arranged for us to get our backsides into a bunch of supercars, we forgive him. If you have some ideas for PH editorially, do drop him a line with your thoughts. After all, we write it only in the hope that you'll enjoy reading it!
Meanwhile, all of us here at PH Towers wish you a very Happy New Year, and we hope to meet even more of you throughout 2011. We'll be at the PH Show at the NEC in mid-January so make sure you come and say hello if you are there. If not then maybe we'll see you at a PH meet somewhere in 2011.
Enjoy the rest of the bank holiday!

Thanks to Pistonheads for keeping me informed & amused. I look forward to more arguments, discussions & I hope I don't put my foot it it too many times.

Bring it on.........Speed Matters!!!!

Watch this space but the Sunday meets start again at the end of this month and we'll kick off from there

Time for me to upgrade one of my sheds !
Hopefully in 2011 I will finally be able to complete my Mini restoration and get it to some sunday services - at least then i wont have to bring my MINI Diesel anymore!

I'm not the biggest poster on PH, but i've been around for quite a while and I can honestly say this is the website I always turn to for a good laugh. Its one of the best motoring websites out there, and by far the best community.
Bring on 2011!

P.s. See you at the Autosport/PH show in a few weeks!
I admit I lurk a lot more than I post, but this site is my chill out zone, my opinion generator and my way of getting insights into cars I would or could never own.
Love the well informed, ill informed and the downright ranting passionate debates.
Made it to my first events in recent days - Mercedes Benz World in December and Kent Run this morning.
To both the team who run Pistonheads and the community of like minded nutters who making coming into the forums as special as it is...Thank you.
And if you will permit a brief scottishism "lang may yer tail pipes reek"
Here's a belated best wishes to everyone for the year ahead
Cheers
