So this isn't the usual would you buy a car with out a V5C....it's selling with one.

Because of the unique way that the DVLA operates (crap) I am still waiting for the V5 to come back after a number plate change. However, I didn't expect it to sell so quick....not big money I grant you, but it all helps!
The buyer has paid a deposit via card and is now heading to me today to pick it up and pay the remainder in cash. He knows it doesn't have the V5 and the reason why but is happy enough for me to post it on to him when it comes through.

Is there anything I should be wary of?
Signed receipt obviously with the time and date of sale.

Cheers

Shouldn't be a problem so long as the buyer is happy with it, I've done it several times. If I were you I'd take a photocopy of the V5 when it comes before sending it to the punter, then if you don't hear from the DVLA acknowledging you've sold the car within about 6 weeks send them that (just so they can find the correct car, they are useless) and a copy of the sale receipt (with both parties names, addresses and signatures) and inform them the car was sold.

If this is a private sale then you should not simply post him the V5. You should fill in the new owners details and send the large part back to DVLA and send him the V5C/2 green slip also with the new owners details on it.

If you send the V5 to him direct then you will remain responsible for any the road fund licence, SORN, etc if he 'forgets' to send the V5 off himself.
