Strange Noise

Hi, i have a 1.9 tdi Galaxy year 2000, it has started making a strange noise when i press the clutch in, i can only describe the noise as sounding like a wheel winding down.
can anyone help me on this.

Release bearing on the way out, maybe?

Yep, sounds like the thrust bearing has given up. Basically the bit that pushes the clutch apart.

Try depressing the clutch whilst stationary and the engine running. You should be able to hear it.

No, it only makes the noise when moving, nothing when sat stationary

If you hold the pedal down does the noise change with engine speed?

not that i'm aware of, it make the noise and then goes away, it's not everytime either it's random, and rather annoying now, desperate to get to the bottom of it
