Good Waterproof Camera

Does anyone know of a good waterproof camera, one that i can take in the sea, swimming pool, don't have to worry about it breaking when i go snowboarding each year, also shoots HD quality etc. I've seen a couple on amazon and read the reviews, however if anybody owns one, then i would appreciate you're views.

You can get waterproof housings for many cameras. Tis one way to go.

I've used one of their more substantial versions;
it was a bit worrying at first, putting my SLR in the sea (on purpose)
but the flexible bag did its job.

Jessops do the waterproof bags and the manufactures warranty covers the camera should water get in. This is provided the bag is used as per manual.

I went for a Panasonic FT1 - looks like a slightly more sturdily built "normal" camera, 12mp, 4.6x optical zoom, 720p AVCHD video recording, decent battery life.

Used it on holiday in Orlando, never missed a beat. Got some cracking shots of the kids at the waterparks. Video quality has been very surprising - despite "only" being 720p, it easily beats the previous video camera (Toshiba H20), and was usable in almost all conditions.



It wasn't even too bad with low light imaging either, although it did have to be used with a small tripod.


The FT1 has been replaced by the FT2, but doesn't give improved picture quality (higher pixel count though).

You didn't say what your budget is.

We got one of these in the Summer for our hols to Turkey. Cost less than £100. Quality is excellent both in and out of the water and we got some good video stuff with it too. Plus it's really tiny and easily goes in a pocket or bag.
