Heads up - who has a decent digital recorder - preferably DVD or USB stick rather than HDD.
I'm fed up with downloading iplayer only to find the licence times out before you can watch it.

Otherwise it's back to VHS off SCART

Why wouldn't you want HDD?

Humax and Topfield are the main brands to look at when it comes to PVRs, but most of them are HDDs.

Trouble with having too many TVs in the house
I want to record off one and play back on another
and when technology moves on in 6 months still have it on DVD or whatever
Both boxes have HDMI - can you get a useful HDMI recorder?

Some of the PVR's already have a USB slot on the front so that you can take stuff from it to use elsewhere. I had a Sagem one first of all (Went back because it was absolute pants)that had this feature on it. Exchanged it for the Humax 9150, which is the Gucci standard definition freeview recorder out there. I dont know what format it would of been, but that sounds like it would be right up your street.

Basically this. A humax PVR will do the trick wonderfully, the downside being having to cart the unit around if you want to watch it on other TV...
