Got a faithful old hack that has been to the moon and back? Lets see the pics.

Here are mine. 1994 525i Touring, sold with 230,000 miles still running strong approaching 240,000. Utterly reliable. Brilliant car.

My current steed. 2000 530iA SE, very nice spec, recent LPG, drives like new, 177,000

Over to you!

No pictures but I bought a VW Santana with 276k on the clock and sold it 3 years later with 276k on it. Not sure at what point it stopped recording the miles but it must have done well over 320k on a 1.6 petrol engine!

Not my car (which has abour 1100 on the clock smile but last year when the missus and I went over to visit my dad in Ohio for a week, he insured me on a Ford Explorer that one of his ex-employees used to drive all over the US in for business.

Just over 330k on the clock and it felt like it.. took it on a long drive down to the Mammoth Caves in Kentucky and it really struggled with inclines of any kind. I know the thing weighs a fkton but it was retardedly lethargic at the best of times.

Well fancy meeting you here!!! wavey

I thought I was bad with..............

'98 VW Sharan VR6 - 170k
'94 Mitsubishi Shogun 3.0 V6 - 148k
'99 Renault Laguna 2.0 estate - 136k
'89 Nissan 300ZX TT - 95k

But I'm beaten hands down with a load of the previous posts!

Strangely though, the list is also one of descending reliability!

My girlfriend's grandfather has an old Vauxhall Astra like the one pictured below but in a green colour. It's a 1981 or a 1982, and he bought it new and has owned it ever since. It's not "mega miles" but I thought it worth a mention as this kooky old car that we are all quite fond of is about to hit the big 100,000 mile mark after nearly 30 years!

It accelerates like a tank and and has brakes that would be considered terrible by today's standards. When you hear kids talking about their slow cars and "conserving momentum", when I think of the effort that old Astra takes to get going I can only laugh. When it eventually dies or he gives up driving (not sure which will come first) I wouldn't mind buying it and sticking some 4WD and a 2.0L turbo engine in it, give people a surprise to see the old Astra finally get some real pace

Come to think of it, this car is sort of the antithesis of an mega-miler, having only done an average of about 2800 miles a year for it's lifespan!

Last time I got a town car in New York that had done 530k. I remember thinking that was further than a trip to the moon and back. The driver told me it was still running on the original engine but he'd had to repair the suspension a couple hundred thousand miles before. Still a st car though.
