Cute looking things ,until you realise they are one of the most dangerous and formidable animals on the planet, with no natural predators other than humans.

The prog has probably said that though - I'm not watching it!

Love the technology - especially the self righting, lens correcting snowball cam.

Some lovely footage.

Watching it now - some lovely pics. The Beeb is unrivalled throughout the world for this sort of thing.

I don't recall DT saying it on the programme, probably does not need to as it is well known fact smile

Absolutely brilliant!

Loved the bit about a Polar Bear assault course.. And the Polar Bear hunting the seal by flanking it and diving under water, very intellegent!

Really? Why? You do know that their numbers are on the way up?

But as above, they are mean fu***rs....... But apex predators tend to be - look at man.

Great photography, and an interesting subject choice, but all these types of doc always focus on the aspect that if the bears dont eat soon they will die, etc, etc. We see such selective editing and generally tightly cropped shots that we don't usually see their real context - I'd be surprised if many polar bears die of starvation each year. Of course, such programmes wouldnt be as emotive if there was nothing in a precarious situation........

Lovely little program but lots of editing going on to make up the story! One minute the bears have got blood-red chops and the next not a drop. One minute the cubs are tiny and next bigger and then tiny again. Still loved it though, great camera work and I think we finally know where all the chaps from Robot Wars have gone to work though!
