When did it go up? Last time I looked (could be bothered to take an interst) it was about £185

And before anyone say's it is not a tax its a road fund licence, the DVLA reminder says "Renewal reminder for a tax disk".

Quite surprising, the old less efficient ones were only £125 a year

(My old X reg 1.25zetec was £125- bit of a difference!)

When are they going to start rolling out the no tax prior to 1971 thing? I might reach that in a few years

Mine is an old, inefficient one, its a MK4 facelift. The ones that had Zetec engines were cheaper to tax as the Zetec engine was somewhat more efficient than the Endura engine that it was replacing at the time.

My 300bhp, 4.2L planet killing carbons emission machine will cost me £205. As will my 114bhp panda=friendly car. It's all wrong!

I'm not looking forward to the point at which I have to "upgrade" to a newer thirsty motor, £435 would seriously hurt to pay out at once.

Exactly... Barstewards! It does have the unfortunate side effect of choosing a new steed carefully on the basis of pre/post 2000 though... A drop in the ocean with most car expenses, but a factor anyway!

Never... If anything I reckon it must be high on the list to be scrapped altogether.

What's depressing is the tax on my 1.6 MINI is more than on the OH's Sapphire Cosworth AND his 3.9 V8 Range Rover.
