2007 Audi A6 2.0TDI. 48k Full service history

cruising along at an indicated 75mph on M25 and the cruise switches itself off and car loses power, after short while power picks up again and seems ok.

Few miles later same thing again, get home and park.

Go back 10 mins later after unloading and restart now have strange clicking noise and MIL light on.

Is this DPF ?

Help!

There was something in yesterdays Sunday Times about DPF failure, it reckoned you had to run a derv engine at above 2.5k revs for 20mins to clean it out.

Does sound about right. When the DPF went on the pug you could be cruising along at 70 and suddenly get power loss and the engine limiting itself to about 30. Although it could be something else but I'd put money on it being the DPF

Due to the amount of issues with DPFs with company car owners, our logistics manager has now given the specific instruction that if the orange coil symbol appears this is the DPF warning. In those instances we have to "flush" the system by maintaining between 2000 - 3000 revs in 4th or 5th gear for 15 minutes. Apparently thrashing it does not help, but sticking between those parameters for at least 15 minutes will work.. allegedly..

First get it scanned.

Then try cleaning it by driving.

If not fixed, google it.

I fixed my wifes 806 by removing it and jet washing it.

Its all a massive con IMO.
