Ffs this is just a proposal by an MP who has only been in his job for a few months. Good bit of publicity for him though. MPs 'propose' things all the time - 99.9% of the time they are ignored.

A few days ago the same MP proposed for a dress code in Parliament - he was told to fk off.

The students also defaced Mandela's statue.

The sculptor was Ian Walters, a committed socialist who also created the statues of, among others, the Tolpuddle martyrs and the International Brigade (which my uncle was in so I'm a bit precious about that one). He was sacked in 1968 as lecturer at Guildford School of Art for supporting a student sit-it for, of all things, the chronic underfunding of teaching resources.
