Hi folks,
As above really, camchain or belt?
Car is an R reg Omega.

I think the Ecotecs are belt, certainly the one in my 2001 astra is belt.

The more I think about it, it would be easier to ask, what engine is it?

Belts on the 2.0 as far as I know but IIRC the 2.2 had a chain. (not that that bit helps!)

Belt. Only the 2.2's are chain AFAIK.

And the 1.0, 1.2 and some 1.4, and the two bigger DTI engines (2.0 and 2.2) and the 1.3CDTi.

So really it's only the 1.6, 1.8 and 2 litres and some 1.4 are belts in petrols, and the 1.7 and 1.9 diesels.

The 2.2 Vectra petrol is chain drive, but all petrol Omegas including the 2.2 are belt drive.

And going on what I've seen locally I'd prefer a belt than the chain set up on the 2.2 - not the first time Vauxhall have made a car with a poor chain set up either

Where did you get this information from?
I've never seen a 2.2 Omega petrol with a timing chain and I don't believe there ever were any.
