Has anyone any experience of the VW Tiguan?
I'm considering changing car (have been for a while as the thread history will tell you) and one option is a 4x4 (not just because of the snow).
I don't need a "proper" 4x4 as other than the one week a year when there's snow it won't be going off-road, but the last couple of times the Boxster went in the dealer network I had a Cayenne and loved the thing - but they're too big and too much money.

Just towed a very stuck tiguan out of it's snowy icy hole. 08 plate with 23k, every warning light lit up.
The one I rescued had the front wheels spin for a few seconds so it dug into the slush, about 3-4 seconds later the back wheels would start to spin. Not sure if it was a duff model but that one wasn't permanent 4 wheel drive.
I towed it out with my 04 Freelander. Runs permanent 4 wheel drive but was still a struggle to free it.

Brother in law has a diesel one , bought brand spanking new as part of scrappage scheme
He's done almost 40,000 miles in 2 yrs and apart from all warning lights coming on when he went thro' a very deep puddle (nearly 2 foot deep) never had a problem with it
He gets close to 55 mpg ,but he does drive like a vicar ,combination of long run 45 mile a day each way to and from work and around town driving
he's going to buy another one next year as it's so reliable

Wouldn't rely on it as a 4x4, but other than that, they are very good cars. Nice and reliable, relatively cheap to repair as the engines are the same (I think) as the Golf so parts are available.
Fuel would be a bit of a b
h on it though, and tax! IMO, better cars for the money, but it does serve its purpose very well!

Had a petrol version, quite juicy but a good car. Boot is very small though.
What kind of MPG did you see?I get around 27 from my Boxster. Now I'm only going off the brochure but combined for the 2.0 TSI is 33mpg, but for the 2.0 TDI it's 45mpg.
Seems to be one of the few half decent looking "Compact SUV's" - Evoque's a long way off apparently.

Have you thought of a Skoda Yeti?
If fuel costs aren`t an issue, the CX-7 is a hoot.
Personal taste I admit, but those both look ghastly. If fuel costs aren`t an issue, the CX-7 is a hoot.
Anyone know anything about the Subaru Forester? The exterior looks alright but the interior looks like it cost about 5p.
