hello chaps.

wife's megane estate has rubbish headlights on dipped beam which seems to be a common issue. there seem to be two potential issues 1) they aren't seated quite right. 2) they're just ste and so they're a car where it pays to get decent bulbs (i suspect the ones in it are pance). so any views on these:

these came recommended:

but they're flipping dear, the megane as we all know has ridiculously hard to fit bulbs, it's cold, halfrauds will put thers in! wink

we have a 225, with the same shocking lights.
I upped them to Osram Nightbreakers (the best bulbs according to PH), and made absolutely naff all difference.
and yes fitting them is a bloody nightmare.

annoying! i was hoping this might sort it.. maybe one does need the expensive philips ones!
wink

these ones do seem almost dangerously bad. i have xenonsand haven't been in the megane for ages in e dark but there must be something up with these cos we were on a dual carriageway and there were 15 year old fiestas casting more light than this thing. i need to at least try something..!

You'd be better buying an HID kit. I bought a cheap runner for the winter, and it's the first car I've driven in years without Xenon lights. I can't believe how bad standard lights are in the dark!! I've ordered an HID kit for my banger, so that I can see where I'm going!! Lol.

Strange, I find my headlights to be pretty good, even when at their lowest positional setting.

Standard bulbs too, not sure if the facelift headlamps make a difference (if yours is pre-facelift)

it's facelift. it has the sort of 'projector' type reflector things.
my mate has an r26 and has no issues - do they have xenons??

The R26 may well have, mine is the cup and as such just has normal headlights. Have you got the height set at the right level or are they just dimmer than you'd expect?

they just seem dimmer. they don't really light anything up. the height was supposed to be right might need to have a look at that again perhaps..?

Might be worth putting them up higher, mine are on the lowest position which was recommended after reading through the manual, however it's pretty low and if I was on a poorly lit street I'd probably adjust them to a higher one. Worth a shot, even if it's just a temporary fix whilst you look into a more permanent solution.
