Plastic Pipes

Just finished my house. All plastic plumbing. Is there a gaget to detect plastic pipes in walls?

I know roughly but once they are plastered in its difficult to remember the exact location. OH wants me to hang pictures last thing I want is a leak on christmas eve.

Use a drill. It'll find them no problem.

Well a stud detector will detect wooden studs so I should think it might well detect plastic pipes. Worth a try, £20 from screwfix.

I thought it was normal practise to put foil tape over the pipes before boarding over, so it makes them easier to detect?

You'll be lucky!
Some detectors 'claim' to but i wouldn't chance it, VERY unreliable.

Stud detector worth a go, but will probably beep at everything.
I've got one, and gave up with it - doesn't really find anything 100% reliably - wouldn't go drilling just on the strength of it not beeping anyway.
If it's plasterboarded, just dig a 5mm-ish hole out with a small screwdriver and have a bit of a poke to test what behind before getting the drill in there.
