Text £2 To Win Exclusive Merc F1 Factory Tour

A £2 donation to the Brawn Lifeboat Challenge could be all it takes...

To win your chance to visit the factory...
To win your chance to visit the factory...
Update. This competition is now closed - although text donations are still welcome!

When PHer Giles Hudson emailed to ask for help raising awareness of the Brawn Lifeboat Challenge, he didn't have to twist our arm. PH HQ is located next door to Teddington lifeboat station on the bank of the river Thames and, even if our annual pay reviews aren't dismal enough to inspire more than a mental leap into the swirling waters of Teddington Lock, we can't rule out a drunken stumble on the way back from our Christmas lunch...

Seriously, you don't need us to tell you about the good works of the RNLI, but you might like to know that simply texting RNLI to 70099 will a) cost you £2, of which 88 per cent will go towards the purchase and maintenance of a new Thames lifeboat and b) will enter you in a draw that could see you winning an exclusive tour of the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 factory. The best bit? You can text as often as you like to increase your chances.

...donate £2 towards one of these

The winners' tour will take you through the entire production cycle of a Formula One car - from the early concept stage, through the design and building of it. You can't buy these tickets anywhere; they're one of those 'money can't buy' things, we're told.

Giles's parent group company, Lloyd's Register, is one of ten teams competing in the 'Brawn Lifeboat Challenge' which sees teams from some of the UK's leading businesses pit their entrepreneurial wits against each other in a unique fundraising battle.

The teams have been briefed to turn £1,000 into a profit for the RNLI using their own ingenuity, determination, creativity, teamwork and strategic planning to reach their fundraising targets over the course of the Challenge, which runs until 31 December 2010.

Lloyd's Register has apparently already done the classic dress-down days at its London and Coventry offices, 180-mile Thames towpath sponsored walks, plus a myriad of other things, but hopes that this fantastic opportunity will be its biggest fundraiser. And so do we - good luck folks!

(As this is not a PH competition, you need to go here for T&Cs.)

Shame you're such a miserable sod mate! I'm not a Merc fan, but am punting at least £2 on this. I'm a motorsport fan.

Got to be worth a punt. I live in Brackley and spent a good few hours at Brawn on a tour, you wont be disappointed.

If you are lucky you can get some hands on with some of the car parts and see just how light they are - the whole rear engine cover and air intake section can be lifted with one finger.

+ 1 and I am also an RNLI fan. a good cause is worth the punt, not the prize!
