Agreed Insurance value or Not??

As you will have seen I've been looking round for insurance for the Griff. Currently have 2 quotes which are worth thinking about
1st about £300; 5k miles incl Europe £250 excess no agreed value but track day has £1.7k excess (but I'm not likely to do any), and
2nd same cover but would agree value(£110 excess and £1k excess on track day cover) but quote is £135 more!!

Hmmm - tend to go for the first one. It is with Aviva and is apparently their Sports car Policy for which I can decide who repairs, etc. Broker (Henderson Taylor - they were at BNG handing out cards and specialise in TVR, Lotus and Porkers) says they have had a couple of recent write offs for which claims were quickly sorted and the people have since taken out insurance with the same people again for the replacement car. Mannings is the second one. I did have other quotes but they weren't as good as the above two. Still thinking but any thoughts appreciated....

I'd agree the first sounds most reasonable. If you are limiting miles have you tried Classicline? Got both of mine with them and they include agreed value etc.

Yes I did try Classicline - they were more expensive and on their Classic Policy you aren't covered if you leave the car on the drive - even for a few minutes (which I think is absolutely silly - eg. wash the car - put it away wet, going out in an hour put it away then get it out again - barking!!) and there is no refund after the first 14 days if you have to cancel for any reason.

I checked this and the driveway thing is overnight, I double checked it too - but now I am going to check again

The Classicline parking on drive does seem to be an issue - I spoke to them about it on Saturday morning as it is stupid and they were quite adamant that that is what the policy is. A friend also has a TVR with them insured with Brit insurance and he says he can leave his car on the drive during the day so I asked why couldn't they quote me with them? Reply was that Brit is the Classic Car Policy and the restrictions were as they'd already told me. When I was with them previously I hadn't seen anything in the policy re this but there was a leaflet in with the renewal which said they cover track days (which at the time they didn't anymore as their policy had recently excluded them) and also said about no parking on the drive, etc. so queried that and the same story - maybe the policy doesn't say anything - in which case I'm not sure how much effect another piece of paper with it has but I won't go near them because of all this.

My Mannings policy stipulated this this year. If at the home address, car has to be in the garage after 10pm iirc, but no restrictions about secure garaging if I am away from home. I could have it without the restriction but the premium would have been higher.

FWIW my Mannings premium is £355 for fully comp, agreed value with TD cover and £500xs (£1000xs extra for TD)

Yep, same as mine - I checked

Both mine are within a few quid of each other at about £320 I seem to remember, that includes full European breakdown, no track day and I think XS same as yours.
