I use my Halfrauds jump start pack with compressor regularly. My old man needs one for his reliably unreliable Classic 3.5 Range Rover. can anyone recommend a good heavy duty one. Would be better if it has a compressor and other gadgets but not essential.
Cheers

Clarke 4000 from Machine Mart. As a TVR owner I can report that it is quite adept at starting an RV8.

The new funky Maplin ones (orange colour) I can confirm are totally crap even after being fully charged for 2-3 days.

Got one of the Halfords ones, grey with a yellow label. Very beefy, compressor, light, inverter, etc. Was pricey but not let me down yet!

Another vote for the Clarke 4000.

Starts our 4.4L V8 without so much as a stutter.

It is a little more expensive, but if your going to keep one of these, the last thing you want is to have it let you down when you need it.

(Edited for typo)

When I worked in a car supermarket we had a lot of cars with flat batteries, the Clarke and Sealey packs stopped being able to start cars with almost dead batteries after a few months (this is probably after a couple of hundred uses, some at the hands of salesmen who managed to melt the ordinary jump leads). The Snap-on pack that replaced them just kept on working.

Yes, I've got one of those. Has lasted me a long time and done good service but wasn't sure it was up to the job of a V8?

Be sitting down when you do.

Then go and buy the big clarke one.

RRV8 4.6, E46 M3, Merc C270 all without any sign of effort.

No compressor, inverter, microwave etc etc, just a big, heavy, battery filled box, but does exactly what it says on the tin.

My Dad is a car dealer and he's had a Clarke 4000 for probably 5 years now.

Used most days and will happily start several cars in a row including Bentley V8's.

Around £105 from Machine Mart.

Another vote for teh snap-on one wink
used one rather often to start a totaly flat 200Tdi disco, if it'll crank one of those from dead flat instantly it'll start anything !
