My sister inlaw managed to loose BOTH sets of car keys this weekend.

It's a 53 plate toyota corrola.

She does not have key cover on her insurance, What is the cheapest way she can get a new set?

Toyota wanted £1200 for a new set of keys and reprograming the car!!!!!!yikes
(probably more than the car is worth)

wow, I didn't realise Toyota were that crap.

Many other manufacturers have pre-programmed keyslots and can make up a spare set when needed that will work straight away.

Have you called in at the police station to see if they have been handed in?

HTF can she lose keys and not even have a clue where they are?

Police not interested as the bag had both sets of keys in.

I know its pretty daft.

Any ideas for a cheaper solution?

You say 'the bag' had both keys in? Handbag, lost, left somewhere or stolen?
Women don't usually lose handbags as they imo seem to be their most important possession

Forget the dealer look for a local auto locksmith who can supply, cut and programme keys. Liverpool area we use delta locksmiths but dependant on where you are it will be different obviously.
Also ask your local AA or RAC patrols who they use. Also note that the AA have a department called Key assist which will be able to sort out keys and reprogramming also.

One part of this statement is correct.

Have you asked her if she's looked in her 'other' handbag? How about the 'other' other one?

Aren't locksmiths going to struggle to cut new keys?

I'm renewing my breakdown cover at the moment and saw a policy which had a general condition that you must have 2 sets of keys with you at all times. I decided not to go for that policy. As if I kept 2 on me, they be lost at the same time.

Doesn't the cost from the dealer inlude either a new or re programmed ecu?

Which is why the price is so high?
