8v or 16v?
8v, there should be 4 black leads going to the front of the engine, pull them out, and keep them in order, spark plugs are under there. You'll need a 16mm or 5/8 spark plug socket or deep socket.
16v the plastic cover of the engine pulls off. You then need to unplug the 4 black coils going into the engine on the top. Then, there is a 10mm (IIRC) bolt holding each one in. Once undone, take them out, and try to keep them in order. Again, 16mm or 5/8 spark plug socket and a longish (6") extension bar.
To put them back in, start turning them by hand through the extention bar. Once you can't do them up any more by hand, using a ratchet, start to tighten them. They don't need to be super tight.

these were a right pita to do! due to the tiny deep hole they are found in. If you find the same problem, halfords did a really good long spark plug remover tool that worked perfectly
With the 2 litre the whole intake manifold has to come off and the paper gasket between the manifold and the block needs to be replaced!
Hiya Rob, Yes I have just found that i do need one of those long small diameter tube spanners cos I cant get in with my normal sockets grrrrrrrrrrrr!
But how do those plastic tubular pieces come off are these screwed or clipped on?
I feel so stupid ...but the last car I worked on was my old Ford Cortina 2.5 V6 .At least one couls see just about everything that had to be accessed when doing the standard service ( changing plugs and point etc) with thir car I cant seem to identify a darned thing
help!!!!!
