My brake warning light has come on a couple of times when i brake,i have had a look in the book and it says this may happen if the fluid is low, well ive had a look and its fine, any ideas??? And no i didnt have the handbreke on!!!
Cheers
Ps the car is stopping ok so i dont think its the brakes themselves.

Are you sure the fluid is topped right up? That is the only thing that springs to mind with this light coming on

Remember the reservoir is shared between clutch and breaks so it may be the clutch that is loosing the fluid

Failing that, I guess it could be the switch on top of the reservoir but haven't heard of these going wrong

This can come about by your brake pads wearing thin. When you brake the callipers close and if the pads are very thin the reservoir goes down more and the warning light comes on, so when you check the level without the brake pedal depressed it appears OK. Check your pads!

Give the handbrake a wee shake--- next time the light comes on. Sometimes the micro switch needs re-adjusted

But when you come off the pedal, the pads only move off the disk by a few mm (they are pushed out not pulled back by anything) so the fluid level would stay low and you would see the low level - full to low is a fair bit of fluid
