Minimum age for test-drives?

Does anyone know whether or not the test-drive insurance policies for traders generally have a minimum age requirement? Or would it probably depend on the car?

The cars I'm looking at are at large used car supermarkets. It doesn't mention it on any of their websites... I'll have to phone them up tomorrow to make sure but I'm wondering if anyone here knows how it usually works.

It will depends on the specific insurance policy that the dealership has taken out. Some may have an overall age limit, others may limit dependant on the different cars, others may let anybody drive. You'll have to phone and ask.

With the exception of my girlfriends 1.3 Ka I've never had a problem with test driving cars at the grand old age of 19, from a couple of people carriers to Ford ST's. You should be ok, you are a potential buyer after all... I assume.

I test drove a version of my astra before i bought it, vauxhall dealer at 18

As long as you dont turn up looking like you are going to steal or cant afford the car most dealers should let you test drive any car.

Went to Volvo to test drive an C30 T5... Minimum age was 25 (I'm 20) and the guy thought I was having him on some sort of wind up until I took him to the car park, showed him my S60 T5 and convinced him I would be able to fuel, insure and pay for it...

"There are ways round these things" were his exact words... 2 weeks later, S40T5 manual ready to test drive (No C30 T5 Manuals on sale anywhere at the time in the UK)...
