The best time to learn how to fit chains is of a summer evening on your drive with a nice cold beer.
Not as most folk do which is in the dark on their hands and knees in snow wearing a decent suit while desperately trying to get somewhere
+1 to that. Not as most folk do which is in the dark on their hands and knees in snow wearing a decent suit while desperately trying to get somewhere
Even so it can be a messy, finger numbing cold and dangerous job. Not much fun in a blizzard with trucks and cars slipping and sliding around while grappling with awkward fitting cold steel in the dark and wet. I now have a quick fit self centring type chains. it takes about 30secs per wheel and no fumbling about or reaching into the wheel arch.
