206 GTI is not as good as it looks but they were going to do a hotter version with 6speed box and upped power (think it was going to be prost version or something) 172 is good car but 2nd hand 306 GTI-6 is next best thing. Mate has got a Seat Ibiza (is it Ibiza Kenny?) Cupra for his other half. He reckons they're superb and he should know what with 2 TVRs to play with as well!!!

I was gonna get a Seat Leon Cupra as a main (2nd??) car until I inherited a Mundano. Excellent motor - quick, handles, refined & well built. I got prices down to £14k for a UK car or £12.5k ish for an import. Lot of car for the money.

I keep being told hold good this new Proton GTi thingy is, don't forget Proton owns Lotus (who have breathed over it) so therefore it should be a bit of a drivers car.... Edited by MikeE on Wednesday 28th March 10:00

Or go secondhand and buy a VR6 Golf or Coraddo (sp?) both fine choices IMHO. My wife wants another Golf version after I chopped in her last one for one of those scoobydo estate things for when the Griff really wasn't appropriate (read booze trips on the way back from Skiing etc) The torque is particularly welcome around town don't you know !
