Having got all excited about a VW Eos but scared off by stories of leaking roofs, I'm casting around for other 4 seater possibilities.

Audi A4 Cabrio is favourite at the mo (but had one before and fancy somethig different), Merc CLK Cab lovely but too dear, BMW 3 Series soft top version too old (based on '90s car), 3 Series folding hard top version too dear, 1 Series too small.

Anyway, I spotted a Volvo C70 today, have had a look in the classifieds and they seem sensible money and well equipped, so wondered whether they were any good, and most important, is the roof reliable and leak proof?

Any thoughts or suggestions much appreciated.

My dad has an 07 c70 2.4l petrol auto. Its a lovely place to be with or with out the roof down, goes fairly well but is built for cruising not for speed. The boot is plenty big enough with the roof down which is nice. He has not had any problems with the roof leaking or breaking but a fault with the tempreture sensor wouldnt allow him to put it up one evening, it was reading tempretures of minus 7 on a warm summer evening. The fault went away and he has had no problems with it since.

I have not been in anything similar so cant coment but my dad looked at a4 cabs and clk's before choosing the volvo.

That's brilliant, thanks for that.

Interesting about the boot still being big with the roof down, I did wonder about that.

A cruiser is exactly what I want, and something quiet that feels like a coupe with the top up.

Basically I've just got a new job and it's likely to require a regular 200 mile round trip commute to head office. Done it a couple of times in my beloved little MX5 for pre job meetings but feel absolutely shattered driving the 100 miles back afterwards.

Also, since my current company car is going this will have to do everything, so back seats needed.

Seen a black/black leather 56 plate 2.4 diesel SE Lux auto which seems to tick a lot of boxes (lots of kit, economical, etc).

Sounds good to me, when I mentioned the boot I didnt mean big but there will still be space to put things in it. The back seats are only for 2 people but I'm nearly 6' and a bigish lad and I was quite comfortable in the back.

Agree totally about the long windscreen thing. The only one I've found that I liked was the Eos as it has a three part roof.

However the Volvo has a three part roof also (albeit a different design) so I'm thinking that might be ok.

Need to see one in the flesh though, as if as you suggest it comes back to your head then it'll be a no.
