In best PH fashion, this evening once the snow in London had left the main roads I headed out for a little drive to the shops with the top down and all heating on full, what happened next came totally unaware and something that had never even crossed my mind.

SMACK, a snowball hit me right on the side of my head.

My immediate reaction was panic as you would expect, an impact while driving when you have absolutely no idea what else it could be leaves you a little dazed and confused. That may have only lasted for a second but it wasn't pleasant, just thank goodness in this instance there weren't any cars or God forbid, people to hit.

Almost immediately after I was able to pull over safely, where my first reaction was to get the snow off the dashboard and electronics in my car - that's a disaster waiting to happen. By the time that was done the particular individual responsible was no where to be seen; probably for the best or I possibly would have gone a bit 'mental' and only made things worse. Somebody who had seen it came up to say it was "a group of lads, some ladies with them too".

So lesson learnt that driving a top-down convertible in a snowy London is destined to go wrong (and not for the slippery road conditions!) and I'll be keeping the roof up from now on when there are people around. But I hope it's not just me that can see quite how dangerous it could have been. I spent the best part of a year living in mountains before now so snowballs aren't new to me and they can cause very serious damage; had this caused a road accident then I'm sure the person that threw it would't be laughing.

[/rant]

Has anyone else had a snowball thrown at them when driving topless? Anything happen because of it?

hahahaha, brilliant!

When I was younger that is exactly the sort of thing I would do, and I would do it now if I had a few beers in me!

Had a convertible for a few months and although I loved it, I would probably never get one again because of wk3rs on the pavement and in white vans.

Great for when you are hacking down A, B or M roads though but I learnt to put the roof up when going into town.

Then you are a t**t.

OP, just glad you didn't crash. Sad that the scum of this country can't bear to see a nice car going past.

Oh come on now, the guy is just getting full use of his vehicle in spite of the inclement weather, if he wants to risk pneumonia that's his business.

Some little bds hit right in middle of my windscreen with one on Friday night, if I didnt have a chippy tea with me I would have chased them but the food was more important.

Thank you OP, very amusing! Would laugh my head off if I saw this happen in person, shirley inevitable given what a tool you look driving around in the snow with the top down.

Gosh, there ARE some bellends on tonight.

Yeah, it's really funny right up until the convertible crashes. Or I suppose when you've had a beer that's funny too, right?

Almost as bad in the summer - the little feckers around my place like to chuck water balloons at cars. All harmless fun from the little darlings of course ... until it causes a crash.
