It's not on in the Fun Bus household as Mrs FB would cry her way through it. Her Brother was in Afghanistan and survived standing on a IED that didn't go off. It's all a bit close to home for her I think (and she's a right emotional bird!)

Damn, I missed it. Don't think I could have done with crying anyway.

Kinda related. 'Restrepo' is a fantastic documentary about the Americans deployment in the Korengal Valley (AKA Deadliest place on earth. Get engaged on a daily basis).
Very thought provoking and emotional at times, with a bit of action thrown in.

Really makes you feel for the people in afghanistan.

Lord knows, us Telford residents don't normally have much to celebrate. But Ricky certainly is one to be awfully proud of. Very proud indeed:

I'm all for these chaps getting more recognition - but where was British TV when Army lads were geting shot and blown up in Northern Ireland?

British soldiers were then getting blown up by notionally British subjects. They were also shooting allegedly British subjects. It would have been a bit inflammatory to celebrate this on telly that the allegedly British subjects were watching.

Fortunately they don't get ITV in Kandahar.

Yep - obviously the reason why. But it is a shame that a whole generation of soldiering got such a bad press and poor recognition.

Seems a shame really as they all appeared most grateful last time I was there. Perhaps you're mistaking it for slightly further South/East, where the Taliban come from?

Anyway, good bit of viewing last night. Well done to all.
And Kathryn Jenkins looks even hotter when she's blubbing a bit.
