360 audio set when using monitor

Need some help please collective.

I want to move the 360 to free up the TV for GI Jane. I've got a flat panel monitor that I can wire the 360 to with a VGA cable, but what's the easiest thing I can do to get some audio? The only thing I can think of is an optical cable from the back of the 360 to an amp and then to some stereo speakers but it seems a bit overkill for a 20" screen in the corner of the lounge...

Any easier ways? FYI I have some small logitec stereo speakers and/or some decent headphones if I can somehow use them.

I have my 360 connected to a monitor using the Microsoft VGA cable. The cable has two phono leads for the audio, and also comes with a twin phono(female) to single 3.5mm(male) adapter. I had to buy a double female 3.5mm adapter, so that I could connect my pc speakers. I couldn't find a twin phono(female) to 3.5mm(female) so had to buy the extra adapter from Maplins. I'm not sure if that's the easiest way to do it, but it works.

What about getting some headphones (EG: Turtle Beach or similar) That way you get almost surround sound quality for your xbox (with built in mic) whilst not annoying SWMBO or the wee'uns?

I love my Turtle beach phones I have to say!

Thanks for the replies guys, I don't think I'm explaining myself properly though;

I have the monitor I can connect to using the VGA cable (I actually forgot it had phono cables too). So what's the cheapest/easiest way to get sound to my ears? I currently don't have an amp to plug the phonos/digital audio cable into and the cheapo logictec speakers don't have red and white phono jacks for input.

Ideally, I just plug the speakers/headphones directly to the 360, but that's obviously not possible. Quality is not an issue as this is just a back up set up for when the wife wants to watch TV.

Any more ideas?

Nonsense!

I bought some Turtle Beach headphones from HMV a couple of weeks ago, and they plug in between the red and white cables and the TV. I can't see any reason why you can't use them with your phono cables. Or can't you use both sets of cables together?
