How to fix my smashed finger?

I managed to hit my little finger with a 5kg weight today at work and the nail has gone black and throbbing. Whats the best way to releave the pressure. The smallest drill i have is 2mm which i think is slightly too big and i have no access to fire to heat up a pin :scratcchin:

Take it to A and E and let the mechanics in white coats sort it out

If you have any welding facilities then the needles they use to clean out oxy acetelene jets are perfect.
Just warm it up and push it through.

A friend's Dad is a GP and after stupidly having my thumb shut in his car door, his Dad told me the best thing for it was a hot sewing needle.

I'm not sure what was worse. The initial pain of the thumb being mangled in between the metal, or the then almost boiling eye of the needle piercing my already blackened nail.

Give it a try. It did release the swelling somewhat, but still won't prevent the nail falling off.

I found the hot needle through the nail trick results in little to no pain

To the OP, just use the 2mm drill bit and turn by hand, might take a while but if you used the drill I'd imagine you'd go straight through.

If he doesn't then the pressure will build to the point where he literally passes out from the pain.
I've had this twice and believe me yo would do anything to stop the pain.
In my cases a hot paperclip and aforesaid welding needle.

Warm it up, and then gently burn through the nail where the blackness is. The relief as the pressure is released is orgasmic Get it done soon,and you may well save the nail as well.
