help choosing a new car...
Discussion
hey guy's
I need some help deciding what car to go with next...
At the moment I've got a skoda octavia 1.9TDI
Im looking at;
Skoda fabia vRS (130)
VW golf GT TDI 150
Renault clio 172 mk3 (cheaper alternative)
Mazda RX8 (more of a weekend car)
I commute into uni daily, its 40 mile round trip so a diesel is good for me.
Plus Ive got a turbo diesel at the moment and love the torque and mpg it produces.
Its also going to be a weekend car, so the 4 cars listed have plenty of power to have fun.
Thats why the rx-8 is there too even with 20mpg
I like the clio because its cheap for its power output even though its a petrol.
Whats the best for me in your opinion?

Have you done your sums on what you can afford to run? I assume you study in the UK and have realised that your tuition fees are going to sky rocket in the near future. Don't forget the rise of fuel prices (and probably insurance premiums after the winter escapades of drivers) also.
P.s. after being on PH for sometime, and despite never having driven one, I feel comfortable in using the standard response of - MX-5?

I do about 60 miles round trip daily in a petrol, and its not costing a great deal, so don't get too hung up on the diesels.
Having owned a 172 (Cup),I can certainly vouch for them. Fun, great handling, and downright fast for a supermini.
As for economy, well as long as you drive economically(!), you should see 37-40mpg in the Clio.
