Insignia or 3008?
Discussion
i think the 3008 is getting the diesel hybrid drivetrain at some point fairly soon - 200bhp and 100co2s. Might be worth waiting for.
(I can't add anything more. They seem like significantly different cars. If he's going to keep it ages, the Vauxhall lifetime warranty might be of interest, but I'd have thought the Zafira would be a closer match than the Insignia?)

Thanks for replies, should have said the chap is 65 and in no way a speed demon! He keeps cars for 3 years usually. He travels from Cheshire to Bath a few times a year to see his daughter.
In that case maybe the 3008. Big French Car = Squidgy & Comfy
Both cars are pretty similar in terms of build quality and general touchyfeelyness. The lifetime warranty is a big plus for the Insignia, though it only applies on cars bought new. Once sold on, it lapses unless the customer buys a top up warranty package through GM. (If that is available yet, it wasnt last time I checked.)
So used Vauxhalls get the 3yrs/60k regardless of date of registration.
The 3008 is a bit of a wierd comparison to the Insignia. I am assuming from the choices that its a big boot and four and a bit seats that the person is looking for. In terms of drive, the 3008 suffers more body roll, which is a given from its different bodystyle.
In this battle I would chose the Insignia, but I am an undisputed fanboi of Vauxhalls. If the gearbox in the Pug is the EGS system I would definatly avoid. Both 2.0 diesels are good engines but will not set the world alight. The 6speed auto in the Insignia is an OK box, the EGS from PSA is pure s
te, can never decide which ratio it wants and spends half an hour browsing before deciding which one to try. Both have a manual mode.
I have a friend who drives a 3008 auto and she loves it. She is 60+ and not in any way a petrol head, she chose that for better access, not for its on road prowess.
I have personally driven every Insignia variant but the 2.0T 4x4 and found them all good, but remember my bias. There are good levels of kit in both vehicles regardless of spec.
Whilst they are chalk and cheese, it really is down to personal preference.
Oh and tell your friend that if I see him driving in a 3008, I will stop in the street, point and mock, very mock! The main difference IMO, the Insignia is a good looking car, the only thing uglier than a 3008 is the 5008!
