Today I realised I've still got 9 days holiday to take before christmas, the problem is there's only 8 working days left for us and I've got too many deadlines for me to be able to drop everything and take the leave. I will hopefully be able to take a couple of days at the end of next week.

I also realised that apart from the weekends I've not actually had a day off since the 23rd of June. I don't know whats happened to this year it seems to have gone so fast. I've been told by the boss I can't carry the days over to next year and they won't pay me for them either. Lesson learned, I will make sure I use my days off next year!

Has anyone else wasted their leave, or is it just me that the year has passed by?

Still have 7 days of my 28 day allowance to take before end of March.

Fortunately I'm not a knob with my team and allow them to carry a week or so over to the following year, this means I normally aim to do the same with mine in case I need a longer holiday one year.

Based on my fragile mental state today I think that may be sooner rather than later!!

Same here. I have 11 days to take before July so that should get me from the 1st - 25th June off due to the way the shift falls bounce

None until the start of next year. However I did just have the last two weeks off to use up the holiday I had remaining.

As many as I like now. In a previous job I managed to take only 8 days in the whole year, and it didn't roll over. The folly of youth...

That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard.

In answer to the original question, 0. That's what they are for.

6 days left, schedule is already done so will not be using them, but might be able to claim some of them as pay (they owe me after balling up my wages).

more than i started the year with given the amount of "credit notices" that i have been given for working overtime / weekends as the pikey place does not pay OT.

Have negotiated that they get added as pay days to the YE bonus instead.

and have promised myself a holiday rather than business travel next year!!!
