Mine does, obviously a honeymoon period, sometimes disappointment turns into enjoying the finer points, sometimes the opposite is true but generally over time you get a bit bored.

I never really gelled with my Saab 9-3 and it had a few issues, a remap made it misfire but I cured that, then the clutch started slipping which has been cured with using it more, a broken spring meant I needed new ones quick so I bought some Eibach ones of Ebay as they were the quickest to get, changed them, got the MOT and it has transformed it, better ride, better handling, it feels more engaging and I actually quite enjoyed driving it tonight, it feels like a big hot hatch now and I no longer want to get rid, not that I can afford to anyway !

Anyone else been through these kind of ups and downs ??

Of course, as you learn more about your car you change your opinion on certain aspects of it. This I think is more so if you also drive many other cars so you can build a picture of where your car excels or fails compared to the competition.

One thing that ruins one make forums is you get people who never waver opinion in any way and become blind to faults though so I guess not everyone is the same. I think these people are also unwilling or unable to try other cars though.

Depends on the car really.

Most I've loved but then that's why I bought them... When I was younger I got bored easily and quickly and changed cars every six months to a year, but now I'm an old fogey I tend to stick with the cars for a bit longer....

Depends on the car. Last one was a 172 clio, and i was constantly finding new ways to enjoy the handling and performance, so i guess with that one i got happier, so yes it does change over time

Isn't it an evolution? My each car is better than the previous one so that's why I keep it longer - it becomes more and more difficult to find a better next one (money permitting of course)

I enjoyed my ZT to start with, then got a bit bored with the odd squeak and rattle. Just got it back from being serviced during which time I borrowed a Disco II and a 175000 mile Pug 406. Was great to get back in the ZT.

How would you have felt afterwards if you were in say an M3 for the interlude?

I'd like the Lexus a lot more if it didn't break so often.

MX5..

Loved it big time when we were on the Brecons having fun.. Then hated it the next day when I thought it was making a knocking noise. Then got in it the next day and it was fine and quiet. Drove home the next day and thought there was lots of road noise and engine was loud.. Drove to work the next day and there was no noise, and on and on.

I fall in and out of love with it in the hour hehe

I don't change my opinions but I am fickle and sometimes I love my car and other times it annoys me. I put it down to the fact that it has moods like I do. My overall opinion stays the same though.

The thing that does change and sometimes very quickly is the feeling of performance.

It doesn't take long for you to yearn for more power whatever car you drive. You just adjust to the acceleration and then plan what you can buy that is faster even if the car you drive is more than adequate.

Love the RS4 when I am driving it....

Less keen when I look at the average MPG....

And the fuel gauge....

And I have to stop at the petrol station to fill up....

Yet Again......

But then the fuel tank is full again.....

Love the RS4 when I am driving it....

Scirocco GT TDI. Hated it for the first few months after trading in a Golf R32 but now, wouldn't part with it, even though the frameless doors are a pain in winter.

I am guessing that the glass freezes and won't drop down as the door is opened. I have the same problem with my 6 series.

I dare say it's that horrible straining-motor noise when you open the doors, and the windows cannot drop normally, due to being frozen up.

its worse when you have lovely retro door handles (NA mx5) - there's nothing to pull on to force the door open. Ended up getting in the passenger door, pulling the door handle whilst kicking the inside panel to get the drivers door unstuck smile

Leading to the joyful moment your Boxsters mechanism breaks and the window disappears into the door at great speed smile
