Stratos 'Alitalia' Recreated

New Stratos in rally trim makes us want to look at old video clips

The New Stratos recreation has appeared in classic Alitalia rally livery during the car’s official presentation at the Paul Ricard circuit in France.

Only one official picture of the full-scale mock up has been released, but it also appears briefly in the event video on the official website here.

We can’t share that one with you for technical reasons, but no matter - here’s a ‘Pure Engine Sound’ tribute to the original rally Stratos via amjayes on YouTube, where the classic Alitalia livery makes several appearances.

Meanwhile, we can but wonder what purpose New Stratos project backers Michael and Maximillian Stroschek have in teasing us this way…

They really need to put this car out to the masses. Looked awesome in the pics the other week and sounded like it wouldn't dissapoint either from a driving point of view.

That time the creator was Chris Hrabalek, still responsible for the design now! But somehow the name tends to be forgotten in all the articles I was reading?

I think it looks great, but only because it's a modernised version of a great-looking car. So it's lovely, but a bit lazy. I wish people this talented would put their minds to designing something new and brilliant, not just re-hashing something brilliant from the past.
