wahooooooo I actually caught sumone vandalising my car

So for the last few weeks I have come out in the mornings to find a few scratch marks along my van 
(and as it's a black van they stand out more) so i installed a infared security camera in a tree, it has a perfect side angle of my van parked on the side of the road (proper macgyver style).
So when i came out this morning to find a new scratch I ran back inside to look at the evenings recordings and success, a lovely clear video of the person clearly walking along, stoping and then running a object down the length of man van, but instead of hitting the roof it was pure joy not only was there a very clear image off the persons face but when the video was shown to my local old bill they new who the person was!!!!!
Now as much as i would like to visit said person and run him over, there is a possibilty of getting not only a conviction but sum compensation to get the scrathes removed woop woop.

He will get community service and will repay you at £1 per week for 500 weeks. The payments will stop after the fifth week. Sorry to inform you.
The best thing they can do is handcuff his wrists to his ankles and throw him into the nearest canal/river. This person will never contribute anything worthwhile to society. He'll just be a burden on our taxes. We're better off without him.

Was your van on private land, or the public highway.
If the latter, you'll have to be careful that the scrote's lawyer doesn't try to get the evidence thrown out as you've not got a sign/licence/permission (or whatever else the government nannies say you have to have) to record beyond your own property boundary.

dam it to all the respons's above, no matter what happens with the old bill i will send a copy of the footage to the local rag to hopefully publish, i have also learnt who the person is myself so maybe i sould pay him a visit and scratch his own viechle no doubt a stupid 1.0 with a exhaust the size of a dustbin and body kit hanging on with wood screws

What you need is a plastic tub with a hole in the bottom attached with pipe to a bucket and a couple of five gallon jugs of pure hydrochloric acid or similar. Abduct, cuff and subdue said scrote, insert scrote, face up in plastic tub, put on gas mask and goggles and wait for scrote to regain consciousness. Now start pouring the acid slowly over his face, catching the run off from the pipe, continue this process of pouring, catching and pouring again until said scrote stops making noises (except for an unsettling fizzing sound!) at which point he should start running out of the pipe himself, collect this goop and flush, society saved!

If it really is the case that the evidence cannot be used because the OP needs to have a license to film then the world really has gone tits up in favour of the scrotes!
What ticks me off is that it would appear the OP doesn't know who the vandal is and if there is no link between them then this has to be the most pointless vandalism going and I can't even begin to understand what goes on in the minds of these idiots.
