I was just thinking about The new shape BMW 5 series that Chris bangle designed. I thought it was horrible when it first came out in 2003, but now I actually really like it.
Another is the Bug eyed Impreza. Never liked them at all when they first came out, but actually bought one last year.
Any more????.........

Sorry, I'm not accepting the Chris Bangle apologies, the man couldn't design for toffee.

I think I am 1 of about 5 people who actually liked the Bangle era BMWs from the start. They were very striking and stood out. I personally think the new 5 and 7 series are positively bland in comparison and thus I have gone off BMWs completely.

But the design that has grown on me recently is the VW Passat CC. I now think it looks lovely.

Not sure, he's very hit-and-miss. The Fiat Coupe was probably his best design. As for his BMWs, IMHO:

1-series - depends on model. 3-door hatch and coupe good, 5-door hatch and convertible oddly-proportioned.
3-series - boring
Z4 - Best-looking BMW in the lineup IMO
5-series - also a good effort
6-series - Oh dear
7-series - gargoyle. And what's with the bootlid?

As far as car design that's grown on me over the years, I'd have to nominate the Jaguar XJS. Used to think it was hideous, now I think it's an intriguing piece of design. Looks best with the US-spec quad-headlights though.

Lancer Evo 7

Just didn't like it, however through to the 9 things got much better. Then the 10 comes out and again, no don't like that, but slowly it's warming to the point she and I went to look at one in the Mitsubishi garage.

Sorry if its a repost, but it wasnt just Bangle I was meaning.
The Bug eye Impreza was a horid step back from the classic Impreza in my opinion, but now I actually like it, especially the STI. A couple of years ago the peanut eye was my choice and of course the hawk eye was my favourite. But now I think its the Bug eye thats better in a strange way and the others were an attempt to shift cars by being more pleasing to the eye by Subaru. They lack "something" and I cant put my finger on it.
Maybe its just me;)

I never liked the 7 and still dont. I like the 9 and the 10 though I think they are overpriced, styling wise I am a 6 fan.

Yep, the 5 series looked like a right old mess when it came out, but it's a really really handsome car now.

Renault Megane R26 F1. I wasn't sure when I first saw it. My wife hates it to this day and said she will not even get in it. Too ugly. I think I am going to buy one soon smile

Also I love a 5 seres M sport smile

Happens to me somtimes, cars that I first thought looked rubbish but now love:

All Lamborghinis prior to 2005

Ferrari 499 + California + Enzo (currently thik the 458 looks st but might change in a year or so)

I'm sure there's more but can't think of them.

Agreed, I really like the E60 now. Specially a Touring with the sporty kit on it (M-Tech possibly? I'm no BMW beard)
