Is it feasable to get a V8 in this front wheel drive car? I've got a '95 Nightfire Red Coupe with a bu66ered engine and would love to have a Q car, does anyone know if it has been done before? M.

oh dear Martin, is the wait really starting to take its toll?

You can put anything in anything if you have the time, perceverence and money Putting a V8 motor in the engine bay of a 214/6 etc is not problem, however as the Rover was originally a fron engined, front wheel drive car, you will have problems finding room for the propshaft and rear axle as the Rover doe not have a transmission tunnel, nor does it have mounts for a live axle and diff setup etc.

There are plenty of quick front wheel drive donors which would make an excellent choice, especially the 220 turbo, which with some modifications can provide 300hp.

The questions you have to ask yourself are:
a) how bad do you want this q-car?
b) how long will it take to build?
c) how much wonga do you want to throw at it?

Anyway, if you bought a V8 you would only end up taking it apart and using it as a coffee table

Right, now that's all sorted, you up for another thrashing on the PC ?

Simon, I'm still having trouble sitting down from the last time you kicked my butt on UT!!!!

As far as the Rover goes, yes, I was only testing the water, I'm getting fed up waiting for the Noble. Still, my court case starts tommorrow (Monday) so I should have the wonga to by a new weapon soon. I'll give you a buzz when the case is finished...should be Thursday or Friday. M

If a V8 can be fitted transversely into the front of a mini, I'm damn sure it can be fitted into the Rover. This will not be a trival exercise though and unless you are willing to spend a lot of time and money then you may as well go and buy something with a V8 already fitted.
