Has anyone seen this? I couldn't believe even Sly Stallone could make F1 exciting.

He was supposed to have been doing loads of "research" turning up at F1 races where the awful Louise Goodman could try to interview him but according to the reviews on Amazon he missed some of the detail - like F1 races don't start from the pitlane and they're not all held in the USA.

In the absence of an overwhelming thumbs-up from the discerning readership of PistonHeads I shall assume it to be a pile of old tosh and save my money.

I thought Sly and Bernie got into a row over the rights for the name F1 and he said sod you and went and made it about Indy Car instead?

Could be an unsubstatntiated rumour I suppose but I was convinced that it wasnt about F1 anymore.

Matt.

plotloss is right, bernie got in a huff, probably over money, and sly changed it to cart/irl. still utter tosh though. i laughed when people thought it was going to be any good to begin with.

From the little knowledge I have of the process involved in obtaining F1 rights, I can well understand Sly getting p***ed of with it!

Lets face it BE is a greedy bar steward any way you cut it.

The movie was purpotedly about CART. However, the chief protagonist (the german) was a thinnly disguised Schumacher (except for the wife thing). Don't know who Sly was supposed to be.

The only really enjoyable part of the movie was the sounds and the special effects (IMHO). The acting was not (IMHO) the strong point and the story line, well, was there a story line?

Yeah jsut watched that on video at the weekend. It is a bit laughable. It is about Indy/CART (same thing) and I didn't notice a plot to speak of. However the scene where sly and the young guy joyride around Chicago in Indy cars is great. Weaving in and out of traffic and lifting manhole covers off the ground with the cars suction. Great.

The rest of the movie is crap though

Allegedly Sly took exception and became anti F1 in reaction to the mildly discriptive but scatalogical remark aimed at him from the Pitlane when he decided he had a previous appointment that would prevent him taking a ride in the twin seater McLaren.

Personally I'd love to have a crack at it but I suspect if I could be squeezed in, (doubtful), I'd never be able to get out without surgery, shame. Too much over too many years!

to give you an idea, at one point, one of the drivers turns around and drives down the wrong way, weaving through the pack to save someone who had an accident....

I.e. just like every F1 race you've ever seen

I do that in GP3 on the PC in "no damage" mode, but I go head on with the other cars - it's quite a laff being the only car left

I've heard this film was pants also, no shock really
