circular polarisers... again... (sorry!)

I have a cokin P series holder and filters for my camera, off out to get a C. Polariser later, but chap in shop suggested I didn't get a "genuine" cokin P one to go in the square holder, saying that a screw on type would be better, recommending a hoya pro.

Now... I know I'm going to get lenses that a screw on one wont fit to, they aren't all going to be the same, so that just stinks of throwing money away - but is it worth it?

i'd say go for a kood one that you insert into the coking holder , allowing you to rotate. A square one would mean you rotating the whole holder which may be a problem if you had a ND grad in it.

If you get a screw-on, the cheapest option is to get one in the size of the lens with the biggest filter thread diameter that you are going to use it with, then buy step-down rings for the other lenses.

As to which is better quality, I don't have experience of the two you're talking about, but I know that Cokin P is at the low end of the market for square filters, while Hoya Pro-1 is at the high end of the market for screw-on filters, so if you believe you get what you pay for, then yes, the Hoya is probably better.
