Nissan Murano - Any comments?

I've had a look at Autotrader and £8k gets you a 2005 model with 60k on the clock which includes a BOSE Sound System, climate control, leather seats, Full colour 3D SatNav, Reversing camera, etc.

Only downside seems to be that it's not a true 4X4, so I'm not sure how good it would be in the snow. Also it's a Nissan so bit concerned about quality/reliability issues.

Not sure how much it will depreciate by come March when I'll push it on but I'm tempted. I need a big boot space in a few months as I've got a big house move coming up.

Anyone got any comments?

Mine was surprisingly brilliant in the snow last year! Never lost traction and never noticed the two to four wheel drive change, just got on with it.

Great overall, a bit thirsty and most annoyingly no external temperature readout or trip computer (miles remainig etc) sat nav screen is purely that and camera screen.

Really enjoyed mine.

I think they're great, very smooth, powerful and well equipped. The one in the classifieds with LPG seems like such a decent daily for the money.

And all this coming from someone who isn't usually a fan of modern Jap stuff.

If you're buying a 4x4 for snow conquering ability, it's probably one of the worst. Big wide tyres and quite a bit of poke isn't a great recipe in the white stuff. As an all-rounder though I reckon they are pretty nice. Good looking, good engine, good spec and not a utility vehicle in drag.

I had a late 2005 car for about 6 weeks in 2006 and absolutely loved it.

Built like a tonka toy, it had everything inside it, and at the time they were so new hardly anyone knew what they were.
Build quality wasn't the best... the trim panel above the gearstick broke when we fitted the car kit.

The car was still running on my fleet when I left the company 18 months later, in all that time and 50k+ miles, nothing ever went wrong with it.
It was scheduled maintenance only.

I averaged 17mpg in it, but I definately used the available grunt!

A friend in the US also had an Infinity FX35 (same vehicle in a posh frock) and he says the same.... completely reliable.

Me too. There's dozens of them here in Luanda, and the FX45s as well... every time I see one I just think... want!!

Sold after about a year against my RRS TdV8 which is a completely different animal.

Depreciation was as expected, when you buy retail and sell trade. Figures I think were bought £12kish sold £10k or just under. Dealer margin but looking back not a huge amount of depreciation in car itself. Was a 20k mile black 05 in excellent condition.

Build quality was ok/good, a bit plasticky but as one of my other cars at the time was a Mustang I was more accepting. Well put together though.

MPG was 20 and no more on a mix of 40:60 M'way to town driving and was the only downside i saw. No idea re parts, sorry.

"Too big" will always be subjective as depends what youre used to. smaller than my RRS and easier to park than the Subaru and RRS. I will say the rear camera was the best I have used (and I have one on the Lexus and one on the Morgan) and I could park seemingly with magical precision to within 5mm or less from the car behind. A really good fish eye lens (without being too wide) showing the whole rear of the car very clearly.

I still miss it and if circumstances changed and I had to take the cash out the RRS I wouldn't hesitate having one again.
