New Stratos Specs Revealed

Wot'll she do, mister? Quite a lot is the answer, as New Stratos reveals its vital stats

Pub talk is important even for one-off specials, it seems, and Pininfarina, the maker of the New Stratos - the unique recreation of Lancia's iconic supercar - seems to agree, as it has released a full set of technical data for the car.

The headline figures are thus: 533bhp and 369lb ft of torque from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia-sourced V8. Which is enough to push the 1247kg Stratos to 62mph in 3.3secs, to 124mph in 9.7 secs and on to a top speed in excess of 186mph - although this may be reduced to 170mph after fitting After a new rear axle ratio in the name of even more frenetic acceleration.

It's quite quick, then. And a good thing too, because plans are afoot to create a GT2-spec race version of the car. These have been apparently initiated by Chris Hrabalek, the initial instigator of the New Stratos idea, as a thank you to the car's owner Michael Sotschek for helping him make his original dream come true.

If it comes to fruition, the GT2 Stratos could compete in the Nurburgring 24 hours in 2012 - much as Ferrari fan Jim Glickenhaus is planning to do with his Ferrari P4/5C in 2011.

That looks brutal! A great reinterpretation of one of my all time favourites. Don't like the wheels though, would rather they'd revamped a classic wheel design like Porsche did with the Fuchs alloy on that recent 911 (whatever it's called). And shame it doesn't have pop up lights. Or is red. Or is mine.

0-124mph in same time as the new 620hp GT2RS - all thanks to its lower weight.
Wonder how much £££?

Love this, it's design evolution of the old school. A man with a dream and someone with the cash to make it happen willing to invest in that dream. Fantastic, more of this please!

I've just had a trouser accident!!!

If the figures are true, that is one bonkers car... Stunning and stupidly quick. Any takers for my kidneys, liver and any other organs?

Must. Have. That. Car!

is this just a tease or will u ever be able to buy one? and if so will it cost a fortune??? my guess is yes and it will be more pricey than a ferrari, which will kind of defeat its purpose..

Wouldn't bet on it (that it won't) - Sotschek is a passionate rally driver...

I think it's great, even though I don't like its looks or performance.

All black doesn't do it any favours.
