I've never understood (on PH at least) why you cannot like both, it has to be one or the other.

Also, you have to be a 100% fan of one, you're not allowed to "just like it" in a throwaway TV manner. It's the moronic black/white way of looking at things (it's either brilliant or rubbish, never inbetween).

Personally I will enjoy good episodes of either. On the whole TG entertains me more but I'm still allowed to like 5G despite this no? biggrin

I find Jeremy Clarkson more sexually attractive than Jason Plato, and on that basis alone, I vote Top Gear.

Can I have my ice cream now please?

I've always thought Plato is an arrogant tt, so on that basis, Top Gear.

Not this again. Dracoro summed it up perfectly. Not everything has to be a black and white issue.

Just to knock this on the head before it gets repeated endlessly:

NO

IT

DID

NOT

And if you mean the ancient version which was so dull it was dropped, it would have absolutely no place on modern TV.

Because modern audiences have the attention span of a spirogyra and the intelligence of a poorly educated newt.

Bring back William Wollard I say - he could sort out his Datsun Sunnies from his Morris Itals.

Fifth gear is probably the most informative car show of the 2.

If only they would focus on a car for more than 30 seconds it would be so much better.

In 30 minutes they fit in more reviews than top gear do in an hour, so you catch the top speed and 0-60 then into the next car...

Anyone else who clicked on the youtube link, did they see a Tron advert? I got pretty annoyed, reclicked it, no advert. There isn't something where youtube force you to watch an advert on your first youtube visit of the day is there?

Hmm, with some of the episodes of 5G I get the distinct feeling they're doing some more "top gear" stuff, which doesn't suit them.
The TG crew are entertainers, and the larger part of the 5G crew are racing drivers.
Let the entertainers entertain and the racers race.

Both have rubbish parts and both have good parts, but they are not comparable, it's like comparing an E63 AMG with a Ferrari, both have over 500bhp but that's about it.

Mythbusters is to BBC Horizon as Top gear is to 5th gear.

In short, I like them both.

I find it really cringe worthy when some of the 5th gear guys (johnny mostly I think?) try to get up to some topgear type hilarity and fail miserabley.

The production on topgear is leagues ahead of 5th gear. Visually it looks so much better.

If both were reviewing a car I was interested in buying I'd watch 5th gear but outside of that I'd take topgear every time.

Fifth Gear for car reviews. Top Gear for comedy.

The only newly made Top Gears I will actually make time to watch are the "epic" road trips suchas the Bolivia one.

Of course the old version was dull and boring....

It used to be about cars and you'd learn something. The post 2000 TG is entertaining and 5th gear has it's good times. I don't see why people have to like one or the other.
