Is he an idiot - discuss.

As far as I can see he thinks that the louder he shouts the funnier he must be.

Well, I tend to disagree with a few of his opinions but he seems like he's done a few interesting things (worked on an oil rig and even been a podium dancer - I kid you not).

Saw him live and doing improv' at the Altitude Festival last year.

He is seriously funny, also We Are History is a hidden comedy gem.

Marcus Brigstocke has his moments - he is just not very consistent.

ETA Yes, 'We are History' is excellent.

Yeah, i must admit I find him pretty funny, his commentary is normally fairly well informed and his delivery is well timed. A touch smug at times I guess, but thats about all. Just my opinion obviously

I don't like him. His joke repertoire seems to consist of hackneyed jokes about Margaret Thatcher, and how awful rich people are. Not surprising that he seems to be quite near the top of the BBC's phone number list when they want someone to appear on their comedy shows.

Having worked with him, I'd say that contrary to your views he's an intelligent, thoroughly nice chap.

Over sized head chap with thick specs. I think he can be funny on HIGNFY, and on QI. The other panel shows are all ste in comparison so don't really watch them. I know he gets targeted on here for his 'lefty' views. Wouldn't be in my top 10 but like some say he has his moments, I like the ranty style.
What is, 'We are history?'

I had just heard him launch into one of his shouty global warming tirades and I had to turn him off. He really does sound a bit like a stuck record on that topic at least.

I'm sure he's a lovely chap really - but I'm not mad keen on his stage persona.

He needs to come onto PH so Turbobloke can sort him out on global warming then. If he just shut up about that I might learn to appreciate him a bit more.

self righteous, sanctimonious, preachy, whingeing liberal/lefty eco-mentalist. Giles W-H is hilarious but his stand-up stuff just sound like a shouty version of the Green party manifesto. What genuinely makes me laugh is when he has a go at wealthy posh people - like he isn't wealthy and posh himself?

Yep - he does reserve his AGW vitriol for The Now Show - which I otherwise quiite enjoy.

I think he's a bit of an embarrasment.

I do find him funny, and I do like 'The Now Show', even if the level of political bias does make the rest of the BBC look like it's further to the right than even Pistonheads, such is the staggering scale of their leftward leaning.

Brigstocke, though funny, is also colossally smug and arrogant, when he's doing his skits on Climate change and politics. There's having an opinion, and there's having a joke, but his vitriol is embarrassing, fair makes me cringe. It does spoil the programme for me at times, I have to turn it off.

While agreeing that Brigstocke is a tt on The Now Show, if you really want political bias have a listen to Jeremy Hardy on The News Quiz. Every single answer he manages to crowbar in;
"Thatcher", "Poll Tax", "Miners Strike", "Tory Boy", "Tory Cuts". rolleyes
I've even managed to hear lever in "Falklands" and "Belgrano" when talking about the latest round of defence cuts. He must be the only leftie in the UK who's glad the Tories of got back in because it means he can just bring out his material from eighties/nineties and everyone will think its original.

An almighty tt.

Never warmed to the bloke. Never found him remotely funny.

I always find the best comedians are those that you feel you could have a pint with as you would your mates and he doesn't fall into that category.
