As we have a bit of a BBQ theme tonight can you help me buy a frying pan for a BBQ.

I am going to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone next year and will be taking my Webber Smoky Joe. Thinking about breakfast and the sausages and bacon can be done on the grate but you really need a pan for eggs.

I have seen these (25cm version)

http://www.kitchenware.co.uk/browse_10515

I assume they need to be seasoned and I can use them to do a frittata at home as all my pans are non stick with plastic handles.

Good/bad price?

Just get a small cheap non-stick jobbie from TK Maxx.

'Plastic' handles should be fine - in reality these can withstand a lot of heat.

Fried eggs, on a BBQ?

I'd just get a cheap and ugly SS pan and not expect to use it ever again. 'Seasoned'? You are having a giraffe.

Buy a SS one and throw it away after every use? Why not buy one you can use again and again?

Other option would be a cast iron Frying pan. That could then be used in the oven too should the need arise.

I only said "not expect". If it's a (preferably cheap) SS pan you can use metal scourers, which you couldn't do with a non-stick one.

try a standard Bourgeat non stick frying pan. pretty cheap ~ £15 for 22cm, last reasonably well, excellent non-stick that lasts really well, reasonably thick base and have metal handles for the oven. i think they are more meant for pro kitchens where they get used and abused and are replaced cheaply rather than the pride and joy in your home. but perfect for what you want

The Smoky Joe cooking area isn't that big, so I think you want a small skillet for the eggs, unless you're planning to do everything in the pan.

Something like this:

I have looked at Lodge stuff before, it looks good. I know what you mean about space, however 6.5" seems a too small, I could be tempted by the 8" though

Or maybe something like this:

I'm sure you'd use it at home for sizzling prawns / fajitas etc.

Cheers MC for reminding me of Lodge Lodgic. I just ordere the 8" version of the skillet you linked to. God knows when it will reach me but unlike you I am not planning on using my BBQ until it gets a bit warmer.

I'm going to get one of those too - it will be useful for roasting chestnuts in the woodburning stove.

I was thinking earlier... 6.5" is more than enough for me, however you might want the 8".

Then decided against it.
