How can I trace my TVRs history?

My nice shiny new Chimaera has one slight downside in that there's no service history with the car. It's clearly been well looked after and there are quite a few invoices for random bits, but the actual service record has been lost. I've been meaning to send a letter to the previous owner to see if he can shed any light on it (bought it via a dealer so I've never actually met him...) and I thought about looking up a few of the old dealerships it has invoices for and giving them a ring.

Any other ideas? Is it possible to get access to the old TVR records for example? Please PM me if you prefer.

There is no central database of servicing records.
If the dealer that serviced it is still going then they could print off the old invoices (possibly). They may also stamp up the (replacement) book for you too.
Over the last ten years or so a lot of dealers have come and gone.

That's my fear, I can't say I recognised the company names, but they are all oop north.

I had heard a rumour that someone had 'adopted' the old company records and was able to provide access to them? Maybe it was just build specs, but it'd still be interesting to find out.

I've yet to buy a new service book (only got the car a fortnight ago), but thinking about doing so.

I had a similar problem with a car. Using its latest MOT I went onto the DirectGov website and was able to get details of the last six MOTs, which obviously gives some proof of mileage. In my particular case all my MOTs were in the Harrogate town area, whilst the customer lived 25 miles away in Bradford. So I could deduce he was using HHC; and who kidly provided copies of the work they'd done. If your results are not that obvious, you could then phone the issuing MOT garages and ask if they do work for a local TVR dealer/specialist.

Thanks. That'll be very handy for cross referencing the old invoices and useful to know who's around for anything in the future too.
