They just did the same as every other time they've been in power.

Spent all the money with nothing to show for it.

The next government then has the problem of sorting out the mess, by which time Labour get re-elected, and do the same again.

In some ways, there ought to be a law to stop Labour being in government until they can demonstrate a knowledge of fiscal aptitude. At least then an incoming government wouldn't have to waste the first couple of years correcting the mess.

Having squeezed the middle for ever more, he is now trying to say they empathise with the hard done by middle.

Contemptible.

To be fair the Conservative governments haven't been much cop either. The economy has become increasingly unbalanced under both.

If you look at the the last Conservative administration and the last Labour administration you will find one striking similarity. The public debt fell to it's lowest point in the middle of the administration. It then starts to rise again.

You have to understand labours definition of the 'middle' is variable.

When they want money off the middle, the middle is anyone on minimum wage upwards.

When they want to help the middle, the middle is just enough voters in marginals to get them re-elected.

I suspect that is the plan. Let his brother hold the fort for four years and then wheel out the 'secret' weapon just before the next election.
