You absolute bender!

"How to make a meal from leftovers in the fridge......"

"I've got a leftover chilli in the fridge, all I need to do is pop to Waitrose and buy meat, onions, spices, etc, etc...."

What's with the condescending looks to camera?

Fister.

Is this the guy who was on BBC1 last night?
I said to the Mrs at the time, he looks the sort of bloke who's full of self importance, the type who'd only speak to you if you were of any use to him.
Strangely enough she agreed and said he does seem a bit of a tit!

Just google imaged him to see if I recognised him. I don't, but he does have one of those faces you want to punch. Repeatedly. You just know he has dinner parties with George fking Moonbat, regaling themselves with socialist twaddle.

....probably.

Don't agree that he is a tit of the highest order to be honest. Yes he does illuminate the gaydar a bit, but so what? This is 2010 ffs.

He's one of the better TV cooks in my view, his recipes / suggestions actually work, and is the sort of stuff I like to eat and cook, so all credit to him.

The looks to camera? He'll be doing that as directed by errr the director.

Typical PH, as obviously it's OK for Nigella to do that as she has tits and is a total pricktease.

What I find surprising and refreshing is that there is no accompanying book to the series. Well done.

On an aside, is he not well? Looked a bit drawn / haggard last night I thought? That kitchen looks ace though.

The essence of the post was the fact that his program promises meals from leftovers, in fact the leftovers are typically < 5% of the recipe.

If that was the essence of your post why was it necessary to make all the Fister and Bender comments then. tt!

and no I'm not gay either just for the record, just that you came across as a cock frankly.

Your <5% comment is not how last night's show came across at all but each to their own.

Nigel may have a certain presenting style that takes some getting used to but he is the best cookery/recipe book writer in the country. His books are works of culinary genius.

He is actually genuine on TV rather than a act that most of the presenters put on but unfortunately he is quite odd and it comes across.

If you don't have "Appetite" in your kitchen collect then you should.

And in other news, the sky is blue and grass is green. rolleyes

Having heard an interview recently he comes across as a genuinely nice chap.

Apparantly he has had a hard life and someone has made a drama out of it starring Helena Bonham Carter.

Not sure what that says really.

....and my Friend built it. In fact I've stood in it in his factory which was a bit odd.......

I agree, Nigel Slater is one of the most influential cooks for the cook at home of the last 10 years. His food is accessable to all unlike the majority of celeb chefs who seem to try to take fine dining into the everyday home which just doesn't work for everyday IMO.

Yes, he may be as camp as a row of tents but I have more of his books than anyone else's and they get used almost every day.

Top bloke, for a ghayer....

to be honest so are you now fella, i had to read his post twice before i got it and i am not sure about the gay comments, but reacting like that because he said something you don't agree with makes you look like one, sorry but that's what it feels like.

i must admit i never watched much of it, but they did say they would be using stale or leftover food, then he guys loads from the grocers, doesn't seem to be what's advertised does it?

i will try and watch all of it next week to see what the fuss is all about.

Slater is a man who writes a good cookbook but should have avoided the call from the Telly people.
My wife reckons he knows where all the bodies are buried. Probably because he put them there.

Yes but I'm being deliberately provocative because in his reply he tried to make out that the essence of his post was relating to just one issue, when in reality that part comprised very little of the content. Plus at both beginning and end he'd made quite unnecessary and objectionable comments thus making the essence of his post abusive.

So he got some handed back.

The directing on this programme is absolutely terrible. Too many daft cock-eyed close ups and constant unnecessary switching of camera angles.

It's a cookery programme FFS not a cutting edge action drama rage

It's not even the first series of this particular show - why did last night's wind you up so much?

Whether or not you like the chap, his recipes tend to work well. My most well-thumbed recipe books are Appetite and Real Food, the latter of which was tied in to a series on Ch4 over a decade ago. It's quite refreshing to see someone who is not a celebrity chef on telly these days.
