Xbox 360 or PS3?

I resepect your opinion chaps and chapesses. I'm toying with the idea of getting a console.
I'm just a casual gamer (Surely the fact that it's taken me this long to get round to buying one tells you that!)
I'm leaning towards the Xbox. a couple of my mates have them, I still have some old xbox games I could maybe play and I don't really need a blu-ray player. oes that seem sensible?
Any advice gratefully recieved.

Get the console that your mates have.

Also, if you want a media machine get a PS3. Xbox has got a better online experience.

I have an Xbox. The only issue is that Microsoft charge you to play online. If you want Sky you also have to pay for the Xbox live subscription, same for films. I don't think you have to pay to play online with the PS3?

I have both and is the only way to go.

I have had both since the day they each came out. for Gaming the 360 gets my money apart from GT5 which will be the first PS3 game I have bought in over a year. But the PS3 is great for blu ray, Iplayer tec....

Both is definitely best. Pick up used consoles if you don't want to pay full whack, but get both.

All of my friends who have both all say the 360 is better online.

I have the 360 and picked it because of it's cost (two years ago) in comparison to the 360.
Buy what your mates have, it's best to be able to play online with people you know!

Whoops! Double fk-up there. Forgot about the gaming forum (I have PH set up so only my favourites are shown on the 'station homepage) and if I HAD looked there I'd have seen that other thread. Sorry all!
FWIW from the comments on this thread a second-hand 360 seems the way to go. I have my PC running through my telly too, so the media advantages of the PS3 aren't necessary.

i have both

PS3 is the more powerful console, however mine never gets used, as all my mates have xbox's and i prefer the party chat etc that comes with xbox live.

I'm not saying it's a bad game (given the fact that no one can say that!) but it's a bit early to say that, no? How's about we wait until it has actually been played in the 'real world'.

Go with what your mates have. But having said that there are plenty of people to play with on here.

I'm on Xbox and that suits me. But depends if you mind paying £30ish + a year to play online if you are fairly casual
