what daily hack for 5k?

ok I have 5k to spend on a daily hack.
Curently looking at seat Gti cupra (97) 4.5K ? Anyone got / driven one - how does it stack up? Anyone got any alternative suggestions. Must be recent, have reasonable insurance and airbags for driver / passenger.

My wife's driven a '98 Cupra GTi since new, about 50k miles now. Marvelous little car, been reliable as anything (just has a need for new spark plugs every 15k instead of the factory recommended 30k or so).

Ours has the handling kit, so it's truly the proverbial go-kart, though a touch harsh over bad roads. Nippy enough too.

Basically it's just a VW golf / polo mix, so the mechanicals are bullet proof if maintained ok.
