anyone else going to his gig tomorrow? cant wait been waiting 20 odd years for this
Really?...
gutted - i knew it was a charity do and he was on last as the headline but wasnt expecting him to come on at 10.35pm. fffing scala said the gig would finish at 11 and i had to leave to get my great sunday train at 10.50 so saw 3 songs!
but have to say what i did see was amazing and will def seek out a solo gig. He had such stage presence ( and a look that was pure johnny depp! ) and was absolutely awesome. It was very punk rock and not "pop" in any way.
gutted and pissed off yet happy to have just seen those 3 songs
I think a lot of people go along thinking there going to a pop concert......... their not
First and foremost Adam Ant is one of the leading lights of the punk rock scene and although he had a period of lightweight pop it's not really where he is at anymore..... a lot of the current set is drawn from the pre Top of the Pops era
I for one loved it last night as Dirk Wears White Sox is an all time favourite album and Kings of the Wild Frontier was also a very powerful record and material from that sounded awesome last night, especially with the two drum kits at full tilt.
Can't find a setlist for Cambridge but it was similar to this............
Intro (Vince Taylor - Rock'n Roll Station)
Plastic Surgery
Dog Eat Dog
Beat My Guest
Kick!
Catrouble
Zerox
Ants Invasion
Deutscher Girls
Puss'n Boots
Stand and Deliver
Kings of the Wild Frontier
Wonderful
Vince Taylor
Whip in My valise
Desperate but not Serious
"Antmusic"
Cleopatra
Never Trust A Man (With Egg on his Face)
Fat Fun
Goody Two Shoes
Vive le Rock
Christian D'or
Lady/Fall in
Encore
Red Scab
Prince Charming
Get it On
20th Century Boy
Physical (you're so)

Saw him in Tunbridge Wells (how very rock and roll), he played a really good set and his band were great. Slightly odd seeing him 30 years on from the first time in Bournemouth just after Dirk Wears White Sox was released..... (original line up.
Not bad at all, just a little bit uncomfortable to watch - not sure why - maybe the costume and the kind of awkwardness he has.
